Poem: Smokey Laughter

Raven haired
Latin beauty -
As smart
as she
is sexy.
Tongue tied
and nervous
from across
the room.
Willingly
cornered,
she makes
conversation.
Sitting on
the curb,
on a sultry
Summer dusk:
Rainbow eyes
glimmer;
A
disengaging
smile;
Smokey laughter,
audible massage -
Soothing.
and melting.

Poem: Self Portrait

A man
of conviction -
Well documented
and considered,
thoughts,
observations
and opinions.
A man
of introspection -
Introverted
and insular;
Private
and guarded.
A man
of fiery
disposition -
A fighter
and survivor.

Poem: Bitter Reunion

Don't mistake
my silence
for forgiveness -
Because it's not.
Don't mistake
my smile
for reconciliation -
Because it's not.
Don't mistake
my laughter
for trust -
Because it's not.
Don't mistake
my conversation
and questions
for respect -
Because it's not.
Don't mistake
my flirtation
and charm
for intimacy -
Because it's not.
I can't stand you
for an evening,
what makes
you think
I'd want
your company
on more
than this
obligatory
reunion.

(Just so no one is mistaken,  this is PURELY A WORK OF FICITON. It is in NO WAY AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL. )

Photo and Gardening: Buds and Blossoms - Creamcicle Lilly

Poem: What?

What?
I couldn't
hear you,
I wasn't
listening.
What?
I can't be
bothered
to pay
attention.
What?
I'm too
rude
and self
interested
to show
respect
and appreciation.

Poem: Yet I do

I don't really
know you,
how could I possibly
judge you?
Yet  I do.
What I see,
my biased eyes,
deceiving me -
What I've seen
you do,
at first glance,
perceived
through
subjective vision.
What I've heard
about you,
From those
"in the know" -
Crass gossip
and mindless blather.
Nothing more
than rumor
and innuendo.
I shouldn't listen.
Yet I do.
What I've heard
you say,
I've taken out of
context,
to support
my final
and absolute
condemnation.
Words of truth
and sincerity -
An appeal
for empathy
met with
apathy.
It would be
understandable
if you
judged me.
Yet you don't.

Poem: Chill out!

Chill out!
It's not the end
of the world!
Just because
you're right,
doesn't make
them wrong.
Just because
you're wrong,
doesn't make
them right.
Get over
yourself!
Let go of
your wounded ego!
Don't feel
threatened,
by alternative
points of view.
Seek not
to control
but to
understand.
Have confidence -
In your opinions
and beliefs.
And the transformative
influence
of civility
and mutual respect.

Photo and Gardening: Buds and Blossoms - Lavender Pedals

Poem: Women of Virtue, Daughters of God

Get Out!
Tail chasing
fox;
Snake oil charmer!
There's no place
here
for the likes
of you -
In a home
where the Spirit
dwells;
Where
Women of Virtue
live.
Daughters of God -
Integrity
and character
of forge steel.
Standing together -
Unconquerable.
Unflappable
and enduring
Matriarch -
The catalyst.
Willing to walk
through fire -
For her children;
Never
backing down -
From the struggles
and challenges
life offers.
Mutual Support
Society -
Family Bonds
Never Faileth.

Poem: Don't wait

Don't wait,
for someone else
to believe in you -
Believe in yourself!
Don't wait,
for someone else
to tell you,
what's wrong
or what's right -
Decide for yourself!
Don't wait,
for someone else
to put you
on top
of the world -
Make the climb
yourself!
Don't wait,
for someone else
to provide you
with validation -
Validate yourself!
Don't wait,
in silence,
while truth
is sacrificed -
For popularity
and approval.
Be willing
to stand alone -
On conviction
and principle.

Poem: Mormon drinking poem

Hey,
Dad!
Hello,
Children!
It's been
a long day!
My one
and only -
Please
and thank you:
I'll take a
shot
of Doctor Pepper
with a
A&W Root Beer
chaser.
To drown
my sorrows
away,
at the
"Honey,
I'm home"
kitchen bar.
Sweetie,
I'm a big
tipper -
Unlimited
foot rubs
and back
massages.

Poem: Counter Clockwise

A good friend
once told me,
"Don't try
and make the world
go counter clockwise."
"Some things
are what they are."
I didn't believe him
then,
but now
I'm starting
to wonder,
if it's true.
What a sad
state of affairs
if it is.
Then I come
to my senses:
My despair
and despondency
lifted -
by the light
and truth
of knowledge
and wisdom.
The human spirit -
Good or evil,
can change the world.
It can bring it together,
In humanity
and understanding.
Or shatter it,
in pieces,
factions
and sects -
Isolated in fear;
Divided in anger;
Threatened by
pride,
prejudice
and ignorance.
Inhumanity
and malevolence.
One has a choice -
To sit idly by,
and let life
happen,
Or to
make the world,
a better place,
by making a difference -
Leaving
your own unique
influence
and mark,
by being
an active
and engaged
part of it.

Poem: Freckle faced Goldilocks

Freckle faced
Goldilocks -
Devil
in a sun
dress,
dancing
barefoot
in the rain.
Soprano
siren;
Flirtatious
muse.

Poem: Under the Stars

Dreaming,
under the stars,
nestled,
in a bed roll.
A lone wolf
howls,
in the crisp,
midnight air.
Starlit pine,
stretch,
toward the heavens.
River rapids -
Voice
of the breeze,
strolling through
the Quaking Aspen -
Early morning
constitutional.
