Eaton Grove:
Grand Victorian
Lady -
Frilly lace
of molding
and stonework.
Little red wagons;
Crazy
"Hippie Chickens" -
Peacock feathers
plume out
in majestic
brilliance.
Unbridled
and free
spirited
call.
Greenhouses
bursting
in vibrant color -
Bleeding hearts,
clematis,
calibrachoa
and snapdragon.
Lantana,
cuphea,
dahlia
and viola.
Bulbs of
gladiolas
and lillies.
Butterscotch
and cream
host -
Soothing
and mesmerizing
purr,
nestled
lazily
around the neck.

Poem: Hope in embryo
"By the sweat
of thy brow"
and the magnifying
hand of God -
The joyous,
wondrous
beauty of Spring!
Bulbs bloom
in a multiplicitious
painted array.
Flower gardens
abound -
In an infinite
hue.
Apricot tree
popcorn blossoms.
Pulling off
the blanket
of winter.
Tilling the earth -
Soil sifts
through fingers.
Dirt,
trapped
under nails.
Weeding
and trimming.
Industrious Planting:
Flowering plants,
climbing roses,
fruit trees,
and life sustaining
crops.
Blessed birth
and maturation
of freshly
soiled starts -
hope in embryo.

Poem: I'm having a bad day
My bodies sore,
my head aches,
my eyes are puffy,
my nose is stuffy
and there's
a tickle in my throat.
There's a spasm
in my neck;
There's a knot
in my back.
There's a splinter
on my right thumb;
I stubbed
my left big toe.
There's a boil
on my bum,
a blister
on my palm,
a goose egg
on my head,
I've got
a broken rib...
my head aches,
my eyes are puffy,
my nose is stuffy
and there's
a tickle in my throat.
There's a spasm
in my neck;
There's a knot
in my back.
There's a splinter
on my right thumb;
I stubbed
my left big toe.
There's a boil

a blister

a goose egg

Poem: The fragrant smell of desert rain
The fragrant smell
of a desert rain.
Raindrop spotted
Rainbow neon
reflected
in mirror puddles.
False front
empires and kingdoms -
On demand fantasy,
anointing
weekend kings and queens -
washed clean.
Red desert rock
on fire;
Cactus needles
prick.
of a desert rain.

Rainbow neon
reflected

empires and kingdoms -
On demand fantasy,

washed clean.

Poem: Exclamation point!
I'm great!
I'm terrific!
I'm wonderful!
To top it all off
I'm tremendous!
Not a cloud in the sky
or a tear in my eye!
Birds are humming
my favorite tune!
My favorite flowers
are in bloom!
All the pretty girls
(Aren't they all?)
are smiling at me!
Making eyes
and conversation!
I'm terrific!
I'm wonderful!
To top it all off
I'm tremendous!
Not a cloud in the sky
or a tear in my eye!
Birds are humming
my favorite tune!
My favorite flowers

Poem: Retirement
He couldn't
cut the mustard
anymore.
Management told him
he was
"a lazy,
good for nothing."
That he was a bore.
No "gold watch".
No "green pasture".
Just his
back end
slapped
by the door.
cut the mustard
anymore.
Management told him
he was
"a lazy,
good for nothing."
That he was a bore.
No "gold watch".
No "green pasture".
Just his
back end
slapped
by the door.

Poem: Nature's maternity
Nature's maternity:
The Sun's
life giving rays;
The fertile dew
blankets
the dormant
soil
and vegetation.
Budding
"baby bumps";
Gestating
seeds,
incubating,
in the warmth
of the soil.
The erratic
and volatile
days of
Spring -
Thundering
and pastoral.
Labor pains -
Flower pedals
struggle
to blossom
from the
secure shell
of the bud.
Bursting forth,
breaking through
the top soil -
A seedling
transforms,
carrying forth
the legacy
of the family
of plant life,
to which
it belongs.
An eternal
and infinite
heritage.

Poem: Combustible temper
Combustible temper -
A tinderbox,
set to flame.
Blitzkrieg rage;
Branding words
of false
and damning
accusation -
Self righteous
indignation,
searing indefinitely
like a
glowing poker.
Smoldering eyes -
Blue embers,
barren
of humanity.
The suffocating
and cynical
justice
of retribution.
Bankrupt
of clemency
and benevolence -
scorched association;
misanthropic wildfire.
A tinderbox,
set to flame.

Poem: Easter bonnets
Easter bonnets;
Pastel ribbons;
Spring dresses -
Pink, yellow
and blue.
Chocolate bunnies;
Eggs submersed,
in a baptism of color.
Twins to the tulips,
blossoming,
in the garden -
Rainbow cornucopia.
Easter egg hunt,
on the meadow
green -
Cherub angels,
abound,
in joyful
discovery!
Easter Lillies,
mark the rebirth
of Spring.
He lives!
The Savior
has risen!
Triumphant over
death and sin!
King of kings!
The Father of all!
The Tomb of
Joseph of Arimathea
lies empty.
Rejoice!
Shout hallelujah!
Arms folded,
give prayerful
thanks.
A feast
in his honor.
A table
of plenty.
Surrounded
by family
and friends.

Poem: Hello Baby!
A "Man about town",
dressed "to the nines",
on the ballroom
dance floor:
Hello Baby!
Nice to know ya!
Merry Christmas!
Happy
Fourth of July!
May I
have this dance?
A whispering Waltz,
accompanied
by the swirling
dreamlike resonance -
The lullaby
strain
of a violin bow;
Taking off -
High Flyin':
Fueled by
the Charleston
and the Lindy.
Swing,
'til we're
out of gas,
running on fumes.
We'll really fly.
Top the evening,
with a velvet bow:
Sharing a kiss
in the crisp,
moonlit
midnight air.

Poem: Mountain road
Mountain road;
Two lane paradise.
Winding -
High country
solitude.
Douglas Fir,
Lodgepole and Ponderosa
Pine -
Sweeping and infinite.
Hallowed artistry
by the hand of God.
Long's peak -
Austere;
Majestic.
Rejuvenating mist;
Unblemished breath.
Rustic
log cabin.
Suspended in time.
Woodpile;
Mountain dweller
crafted
rock fireplace.
Chimney smoke.
The perfume
of elevated bliss.
Two lane paradise.

Poem: Sacrament
Sabbath day,
holy day.
As we come before
the body of Christ,
with reverence and reflection,
to renew our covenants
with thee:
Forgive us,
as we forgive,
our brothers and sisters,
their trespasses.
And with penitent hearts,
our lamps filled,
with the pure love of our Savior,
remember them no more.
Weekly
judgment, reconciliation
and renewal.
Progression found
in enduring well:
The process of
sanctification, justification
and purification.
Refreshed,
with the water of life -
The witness
of personal revelation.
Washed clean,
in the blood,
of an Infinite Atonement;
Our nakedness -
Covered.
Made whole;
Set ablaze
with the refining light
of the Holy Spirit.
